IOU Tree Decorating at the Ramsey Nursing Home…
By, Sara Hollerich
A large part of the holidays are helping out our fellow man and that is what the IOU group decided to do. Scott Murphy came up with a great idea. He thought it would be nice to decorate a growing tree instead of cutting one down and brining it inside. So we made the natural jump from decorating a tree out in the woods somewhere to decorating one in edible ornaments for birds to eat in an area where people would enjoy the birds that came to feed.
One of our members has a father in the Ramsey Nursing Home so we contacted them and decided to go over and visit the residents and decorate their trees. Hopefully having some birds to watch will make their lives a bit happier.
Decorating the trees was a lot of fun. We went all around the nursing home before we went inside a visited the residents. I thought it was pretty funny when we went up to an elderly lady who was sipping some juice and she took one look at Brady and commented on how cute he was. When we were leaving she thanked us for visiting and asked us to come back and bring him with us.
